Three people were arrested after Whiteville Police found litter, feces, urine and makeshift shelters at an alleged squatters’ camp on Frink Street Wednesday.
Gary Pollard, 58; Buffy Pollard, 52; and Bruce Pollard, 24, were charged with littering hazardous waste, according to Detention Center records. All three were held under secured bonds.
Whiteville Police were called to 269 Frink Street after the owner of the property complained about trespassing, Lt. Scott Moody said. While checking the property, officers found mattresses, makeshift shelters, and trash on the property, according to the report. They also found multiple deposits of feces and urine, which are classified by General Statute as hazardous materials.
The warrant states that “500 lbs. of articles of clothing covered in feces,” used toilet paper, beer bottles and cans, grills, soiled bedding, and electronic motors were found scattered around the property.
Warrants for littering hazardous waste were obtained, and the three were taken into custody.
