Driver Charged With Assisting Murder Suspect

The teen who drove two murder victims to Roanoke Rapids has been charged as an accessory after the fact in the killing of a Brunswick man.
Isaiah Napoleon Cooper, 19, of 151 Mill Pond Rd., Whiteville ws arrested today (Tuesday) on a charge of accessory after the fact of murder. His bond was set at $20,000 secured, according to detention center records. He was also charged with resisting an officer.
Cooper is alleged to have helped Eric Lamont Martin Jr., 18, escape to Roanoke Rapids after Martin allegedly shot and killed Raphael Gowans in the town of Brunswick on June 11.
Cooper was driving a car with Shane Faircloth, 19, and Mariah Thompson, 14, on June 22 when Miss Thompson and Faircloth were shot to death in Roanoke Rapids. Cooper was detained by police and released, according to a new release from RRPD. Warrant shows that Cooper also was allegedly with Martin at the time Williamson and Faircloth were slain.
Thompson attended Whiteville High School. Faircloth was from Chadbourn. All four of the teens attended WHS.
