Sex Assault Suspect Faces Trafficking Charges

More than 20 pounds of marijuana and large amounts of cash were seized as part of a search warrant at a sexual assault suspect’s home.

Wade Anthony Garcia,  61, was arrested July 24 on charges of second degree kidnapping, felony attempted second degree forcible sex offense, false imprisonment and sexual battery. He was held under no bond, according to court records. His address was listed as 3960 Burney Ford Rd., Clarkton.

Garcia was being held under no bond from the earlier charges when investigators searched his home, according to a press release from the Bladen Sheriff’s Office. During the course of the search they found 22 pounds of marijuana.

Investigators said Garcia was taken into custody after the victim of the sexual assault called 911. The BCSO said clothing and other evidence was collected after the assault that led to Garcia’s arrest.

Garcia now faces additional charges including two counts of trafficking in marijuana, and maintaining a dwelling for drug activities. He remains held under no bond.
