Theft, Meth, Threats Charged

A hog farm theft led to a string of charges against a local man July 13.

Roger Odell Richardson Jr., 57, of 2302 Old 74, Chadbourn, is being held under a secured bond on charges of felony larceny, breaking and entering, conspiracy, communicating threats and possession of methamphetamines, according to detention center and court records.

Warrants show that Richardson allegedly broke into a building at an Old Stake Road hog farm July 13 and stole $2,500 worth of welding equipment. He is also charged with conspiring with another man to commit the larceny.

Richardson was already wanted for communicating threats, having told three people via text message that he intended to kill them.

During a traffic stop, Richardson refused to cooperate with a deputy who was searching for a firearm. Richardson was allegedly in possession of methamphetamines at the time of his arrest.
