Detectives have arrested a registered sex offender who was found in possession of pornography featuring a teenager.
Caleb Spurling, 27, was arrested during the pre-dawn hours on charges of failure to register and third degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He was held under no bond, according to detention center records. His address on court documents was listed as 3545 Water Tank Rd., Delco.
Warrants show that Spurling did not inform the sheriff’s office of an email address, afropictures100@gmail.com, in May. He also allegedly paid a teenager $1,500 for photographs of her engaging in sexual activity.
The N.C. Sex Offender Registry shows Spurling was convicted of dealing in child pornography in Delaware in 2019, and given a minimum sentence of 10 years on the registry. He served 22 months in prison on those charges.
Sex offenders generally can be prohibited from having social media accounts, and must file email addresses with the local agency that holds their registration.
