Equipment Damage Tops $200K; Juveniles Sought

A bulldozer and excavator were nearly destroyed by vandals Sunday, according to the sheriff’s office.

Damages to the equipment were estimated at $200,000, according to the report

The four unknown juveniles allegedly drove a Caterpillar excavator into a pond in the 1000 block of Miller Road, and damaged a bulldozer. The owner of the equipment, Don Prince Backhoe and Dump Truck, contacted the sheriff’s office Monday morning after the damage was discovered.

In addition to the excavator being driven into the pond, a John Deere bulldozer was heavily damaged. The report said a hydraulic line was removed, dirt was dumped in the intake, and plastic bottles were placed in the fuel tank. Pieces of the dash were also removed and thrown in the bottom of the dirt pit. The excavator was believed to be left running when it was walked off the side of the dirt pit, possibly locking the engine.

Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to contact the CCSO.
