One man is in custody after a high speed chase that began in Whiteville, went down U.S. 74-76 and turned back toward the city.
A county narcotics officer reportedly spotted a reported stolen vehicle at the North Whiteville Food Lion shopping center. The suspect fled a traffic stop, and the detective pursued. Highway Patrol and Whiteville Police then joined to assist in the chase.
The suspect was alleged to be armed and dangerous. The vehicle was successfully stopped at Chaunceytown Road and U.S. 74-76.
