It was a hot day in Columbus June 17, and the night got even hotter.
The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office joined forces with three other law enforcement agencies to conduct a saturation patrol in the Nakina / Pireway community of Columbus County on June 17. Lumberton Police, as well as deputies from Brunswick and Bladen, assisted in the operation.
“Deputies saturated this area of the county,” Sheriff Jody Greene said in a press release, “focusing on compliance of motor vehicle codes and to reduce motor vehicle accidents, injuries, and death associated with impaired driving.”
The violations included:
- Two DWI charges
• Four speeding citations
• Seven restraint citations
• Two citations for No Operator’s License
• Four citations for Driving While License Revoked
• Eight registration violations
• Two charges for no insurance
• Ten other traffic citations
Deputies also issued three drug violations and apprehended two person who were wanted by law enforcement.
“I would like to thank each officer and agency that participated in this operation,” Greene said. “Thank you for your time and dedication.”
