Lake Issues Boil Advisory

Water coming out of the faucet

Lake Waccamaw water customers near Creek Ridge and Bella coola are under a boil water advisory due to a leaking water main.

The town announced the outage this morning. The affected area is from 1502 Lakeshore Drive to the end of Bella Coola Road.  Addresses in the advisory area include 1500 Lake Shore to 2014 Lake Shore, Creek Ridge, Bella Coola; Maple, Elm and Pine streets; Jefferson Road; Bartram Lane; Council Avenue; Lakewood Drive, Myrtle Drive, Birch Street and Elm Street.

Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increases the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system.

The Division of Water Resources advised that when water is restored consumers boil all water used for human consumption (including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation) or use bottled water.

Vigorous boiling for one minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water.
