Mincey, 44, was on trial for nearly three weeks in the death of Alissa Lee. Lee’s body was found in the water under Heartbeat Bridge in Nakina in April 2023. It was estimated she had been in the water for more than a week.

Mincey was romantically involved with Lee’s mother, Lisa Jackson, at the time of the murder. At the victim’s visitation, witnesses said Mincey was with Jackson, and offering condolences to family and friends.

Jackson has not been charged with any crime. Mincey was initially charged with accessory after the fact, but District Attorney Jon David said additional investigation and digital evidence led a grand jury to indict Mincey for murder.

Superior Court Judge Jessica Locklear presided over the case. J.B. Lee was the lead defense attorney.

The District Attorney’s Office thanked the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, the State Bureau of Investigation, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for their dedication to this case.
