Roderick Terrell Pee is facing multiple charges after he allegedly tried to hit a Chadbourn Police Officer June 4, leaving the officer injured by flying debris.
Pee, 18, turned himself in at the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office June 12. He is charged with multiple traffic violations from Fair Bluff and Chadbourn, as well as assault on a law enforcement officer, inflicting serious injury. Pee is being held here under $45,000 secured bond, according to detention center reports. His address was listed as 1740 Cornwell Ct., Laurinburg.
Pee allegedly fled from a traffic stop in Chadbourn June 4, leading to a high-speed chase that topped 100 miles per hour, according to police reports. Chadbourn Police set up tire deflation devices (known as Stop Sticks) at the intersection of N.C. 410 and U.S. 76. Pee allegedly steered his vehicle toward Chadbourn Police Sgt. Jonathan Driggers.
Driggers was struck by debris from the Stop Sticks. He was transported by another officer to Columbus Regional and airlifted to Duke University Medical Center for emergency surgery. CPD Chief Ken Elliot said Driggers is recovering.
