Clarendon Man Jailed After Chase

A Clarendon man is being held in South Carolina pending extradition after he allegedly led multiple agencies on a high speed chase driving a stolen law enforcement officer’s patrol vehicle Friday.

Michael Terrill Hemingway, 27, of 780 Clarendon Chadbourn Road, was arrested near Green Sea after wrecking the patrol vehicle. He faces charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, driving under the influence, an open container violation and shoplifting in South Carolina. Charges are pending against him here.

Hemingway was placed under a secured bond but held on a fugitive warrant from North Carolina, according to detention center reports. Additional charges are pending here.

Details have not been released in the case, due to the sheriff’s office being closed for Deputy Darian Bost’s funeral today (June 29).
