The suspect in multiple break-ins was arrested after a traffic stop July 9.
Reports show that Jessie Levern Dudley, 60, was held under no bond. He was charged with maintaining a vehicle for drug activities, manufacture, sale, delivery and possession of drugs within 1,000 feet of a school, traffic violations, larceny of a motor vehicle and breaking, entering and larceny.
The sheriff’s office reported that deputies were called to a Whiteville-area home in February after an air conditioner and video game unit were reported missing. The property had been secure the day before, the report said.
Another larceny was reported March 6, when another property owner discovered an air conditioner missing. The unit was valued at $600, the report said.
“During a related investigation on July 6,” the report said, “detectives developed information linking Jessie Dudley to multiple thefts in the Wayne’s Way area.” They also discovered that Dudley had allegedly admitted to taking the air condition in this particular case.
On July 9, Vice/Narcotics detectives stopped Dudley’s vehicle in Whiteville. A records check showed his license was suspended and he had outstanding warrants. He was arrested without incident, the report said.
As deputies were removing Michelle Hunter from the vehicle, they reportedly saw her “attempt to discard suspected narcotics.” A small quantity of drugs were recovered, and Hunter was also charged.
Hunter, 31, of 218 E. Lewis St., Whiteville, was placed under $25,000 secured bond, charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver cocaine, littering hazardous waste, possession of drugs within 1,000 feet of a school, and drug paraphernalia.
