Here’s today’s Bottom Line

The dry spell continues. Yesterday was day #17 in Whiteville since our last measurable rain event. Please be very careful if doing any outdoor burning.

High pressure continues to keep us dry and unseasonably warm now through Thursday.

The frontal system that I’ve been talking about for several days appears to have slowed its forward progress. The front is now slated to cross the area Friday with a narrow … but possibly strong … line of convection ahead of it.

This line of showers/storms should cross west to east during the afternoon hours. Overall rainfall totals will be quite light, though, due in large part to the quick-hit nature of this convective line.

ISOLATED damaging wind gusts are possible with this line on Friday.

Cooler high pressure starts to ridge in behind the front, with highs only in the 60s to lower 70s Sunday and Monday with early morning lows in the lower 40s.

Tropics: An area of low pressure is likely to develop well offshore. This may take on subtropical characteristics … but is going to be zero threat to the United States.
