Citizen complaints helped put an alleged Brunswick drug dealer behind bars Aug. 8, according to the sheriff’s office.
Anthony Legrant Hawkins, 64, was charged with possession of crack cocaine, and held under a $3,500 bond, according to the sheriff’s office.
Vice narcotics officers were observing Hawkins after repeated complaints by citizens, Sheriff Jody Greene said in a press release. Agents allegedly saw Hawkins leave his home in another person’s vehicle, then conduct a hand-to-hand transaction with another man.
When deputies stopped the vehicle, Hawkins was found to have a crack pipe in his possession the report said. Crack cocaine was also located in the seat where he had been riding.
Greene said the surveillance came about due to multiple complaints by citizens about alleged drug activity.
