An infant is recovering after apparently ingesting an unknown substance Monday afternoon. The sheriff’s office responded to a medical call at a home on Crusoe Island Road around 3 p.m., according to a report. The infant was conscious and being treated by EMS when deputies arrived. Deputies arrested a Bladen County suspect during a traffic stop in Delco March 31, according to the sheriff’s office. Benetta Renee White, 52, was charged with five counts of failure to appear in Bladen District Court. Court records show she also has pending charges of felony child abuse, inflicting serious injury.
