A Shallotte man found out you can’t outrun the long arm of the law Aug. 18.
Skyler Wade Peacock, 20, was charged with child abuse, fleeing to elude arrest, carless and reckless driving heorin possession and traffic violations, according to jail reports. His bond was set at $75,000. He listed his address as 5173 Big Oak Ct., Shallotte.
The sheriff’s office reported that a member of the Heavy Enforcement action Tem (HEAT) was on patrol near Seven Creeks and Swamp Fox highways. The deputy spotted Peacock allegedly driving a vehicle with revoked tags and no insurance.
When the deputy attempted to perform a traffic stop, Peacock allegedly turned into a subdivision to get away from the deputy and accelerated, but was stopped by a closed gate.
