2/21/22 Daily Sports Wrap Up

NBA: The 71st NBA All Star Game in Cleveland was won by team LeBron, and it came down to a deep turn around 3-pointer and James hit it for the win 163-160. LeBron’s win would give Kent State and their Promise Scholar Program $450,000, the charity Team LeBron was playing for. Seth Curry, another Akron born player, had a big night. He took home the game’s MVP award, newly named Kobe Bryant Award, in front of a packed house and Kobes’ wife Vanessa. Steph scored 50 points, that included 16 3-point baskets and a new 3-point record in an All-Star game. Steph’s 50 points was just two points shy of the scoring record in an All-Star game of 52 by Anthony Davis. Just so you know the 3-point line is 23 feet from the basket. Curry hit shots from 33, 34 and 37 feet in the third quarter alone. He was hitting shots from wherever he wanted. Half time was a celebration of the NBA’s 75 top players, amazingly there are still 60 plus of those players still alive. Michael Jordan was the last named announced on that list and the players and crowd showed their appreciation with a standing ovation.

Giannis Antetokounmpo finished with 30 points and 12 rebounds, LeBron James had 24 points and 8 assists for team Lebron.

Joel Embiid ended the game with 36 points and 10 rebounds, Devon Booker finished with 20 points and first time All-Star LaMelo Ball showed up in style and played just as well with 18 points on 7-11 shooting for team Durant. Kevin Durant did not play due to an injury but was the team captain.

The NCAA is reviewing the situation and is expected to release a statement later today.
