Veterans Council

You ask: What is a Veterans Council? The purpose of the Veterans Council is to speak as a unified voice when presenting concerns regarding the general welfare of veterans of this county and nation, and to promote and encourage all forms of Patriotic Activity and Community Observance.

The Columbus County Veterans Council has been formed and meets the third Tuesday of each month at the Veterans Building located at 1028 S. Madison St., Whiteville. Representatives from the Veterans Organizations are encouraged to attend these meetings.

Local veteran organizations include:

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8073

            American Legions Post 137, 204, 233, 507

            Disabled American Veterans Chapter 35

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 962

            Military Vet Riders Association

            Veterans Memorial Park of America

            McMullen House for Heroes

            Marine Corps League (Provisional Chapter)

National Association of Medics and Corpsmen

The Columbus County Veterans Council is working hand in hand with these organizations and Veterans Services to provide information to veterans on benefits, upcoming events, and address the needs of our veterans. By working together we can make things better for our veterans and their families. We can advocate on behalf of all veterans and foster camaraderie among them.
