2023 Trick or Treat Guide

The Grissettown Longwood Fire Department will once again hold their annual Grissettown Haunted Trail. The event will run every Saturday and Sunday and on Halloween night from 7-10 p.m. Tickets are $15 each. The station is located at 758 Longwood Road in Ocean Isle Beach  

Several area churches are holding events Wednesday. Nakina Baptist Church will host trunk or treat on Wednesday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Dulah Missionary Baptist Church has trunk or treat starting at 6 p.m. Palmyra Missionary Baptist will welcome trunk or treaters from 6-8 p.m. Olyphic Baptist has its event from 6-7:30 p.m. Cherry Grove Baptist at 9833 Swamp Fox Hwy. is offering trunk or treat from 6-8 p.m.

The Downtown Whiteville committee will be holding a Halloween costume party at the Vineland Station Depot on Friday, Oct. 27, from 7-11 p.m. The event is for adults 21 years and older, and there will be games, hors d’oeuvres, and beer and wine for purchase. Admission is $10. Prizes will be handed out for best individual and couples costumes.  

The Tabor City School Parent Teacher Organization will host a trunk or treat on Friday, Oct. 27, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. around the school’s flagpole. The school is located at 203 Stake Road.  

On Saturday, First Baptist Whiteville will have events from 12-3 p.m. Union Baptist at Lake Waccamaw has trunk or treat from 2-4 p.m. Cornerstone Original Free Will Baptist at 8428 Hallsboro Rd. will welcome kids and their parents at 4 p.m. Seven Creeks Missionary Baptist will have trunk or treat from 5-7 p.m.  Shiloh Church will have trunk or treat from 6-8 p.m.

Safe Night will be at East Columbus High School from 6-8 p.m. this year, not at the Boys and Girls Home.

Several churches have special events set for Sunday as well. Pleasant Plains Baptist will welcome families from 4-6 p.m. New Hope Baptist on Rough and Ready Road will have trunk or treat from 5-6:30 p.m. First Presbyterian church in Whiteville has events scheduled from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Western Prong Baptist ishostiong trunk or treat in downtown Whiteville from 6:30-8:30 at 821 S. Madison Street. Chadbourn Baptist has events scheduled from 5-7 p.m.

Susy’s Styles and Designs beside Ivey’s Cafe in Whiteville will welcome trick or treaters Sunday at 6 p.m.

Union Baptist Church will have the Hallelujah Festival and trunk or treat on Saturday, Oct 28, from 3-4 p.m. UBC can be found at 2290 Old Northeast Road in Lake Waccamaw.   

The Hallsboro community will be having their first ever trunk or treat at the Hallsboro Volunteer Fire Department on Oct. 28 from 6-8 p.m. Those who would like to participate by decorating their trunk and handing out candy are asked to contact Laura Elizabeth via Facebook.  

Shiloh Church will be hosting a fall festival on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 5-8 p.m. There will be plenty of food and fun. Shiloh is located at 7793 Hallsboro Rd. South.   

Fair Bluff Baptist Church has planned a trunk or treat for Sunday, Oct. 29, from 4-6 p.m. There will be inflatables, face painting, a fairy hair station, crafts, hot dogs, popcorn, snacks, and trunks decorated and filled with candy. FBBC can be found at 1205 Main Street in Fair Bluff.     

Piney Forest Baptist Church will present a trunk or treat on Oct. 29 from 5-7:30 p.m. There will be food, games, and prizes. Hotdogs will also be served. The church is located at4509 Andrew Jackson Road SW in Cerro Gordo.  

Chadbourn Baptist Church will be hosting their trunk or treat on Sunday, Oct. 29, from 5-7 p.m. The evening will include a fire truck, face painting, a bouncy house, hayride, and more. The church’s address is 504 N. Howard Street.  

On Oct. 31, Memory Plaza in Uptown Whiteville is sponsoring trick or treating. Having Aunties Within Reach will be in downtown Whiteville from 5:30-7:30 p.m. 

Chadbourn Church of God on Kinlaw Drive will welcome families starting at 7 p.m. Sweet Home Missionary Baptist will host events from 6-8 p.m. Gapway Baptist near Tabor City will be welcoming trick or treaters from 7-9 p.m. CPHC Ministries at 518 N. Elm Street will open their doors at 6 p.m.

Premier Assisted Living and Rehab Center is having trunk or treat on Oct. 31 at the facility from 5:30-7:00 p.m. in the parking lot. Premier is located at 106 Cameron Street in Lake Waccamaw.  

Southeastern Community College, the H.E.A.R.T.S. Foundation, and Columbus County Parks and Recreation will be holding a trunk or treat ‘Safe Nite’ for kids. The event is set for Tues, Oct. 31, from 6-8:30 p.m. at the college and will feature food, candy, games, and lots of fun for the little ones. The Whiteville Police Department will be having a Halloween bash on Oct. 31 from 6-8:30 p.m. in the Whiteville City Hall parking lot. The evening will include fun, games, and lots of candy.  

Trinity Baptist Church will host a trunk or treat on Oct. 31 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The church’s address is 201 South Thompson Street in Whiteville.  

Welches Creek Missionary Baptist Church will hold a harvest festival Nov. 4 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. There will be a chili cookout, bounce houses, games and food. The church is located at 1733 Mille Christine Rd., Whiteville. call 704.575.2570 for more.
