City Schools to Release Early After Latest Threat

The second bomb threat to city schools in a week has led to early dismissal today.

The call specifically threatened Central Middle this morning, and students were evacuated just after 8:30 a.m. Superintendent Jonathan Williams said law enforcement cleared Central a short time later, but investigators asked that the system dismiss at 2 p.m.

Whiteville High School Principal Ronna Gore posted on Facebook that since WHSA shares buses with Central, classes will dismiss at 2:15 p.m. at the high school. After school activities remain on a normal schedule.

All city schools were evacuated Monday after an emailed bomb threat targeting a school in Whiteville. That threat was found to be fake.
