The victim struck by a car on Powell Boulevard in Whiteville Friday night will recover.
Lonnie Cardill, 27, ran into traffic near Hay Street and into the path of a passing vehicle, Whiteville Police said. Cardill was wearing dark clothing when he reportedly ran away from a nearby group home after having an argument with his caretaker.
He was struck around 6:45 p.m., and transported to Columbus Regional. Cardill was later transported to New Hanover for additional treatment, but is expected to make a full recovery.
The driver of the car will not face charges.
