The Forest Service will hold prescribed burner licensing May 19-22. Certified Burner classes are delivered through a combination of virtual classroom sessions and in-person group field activities.

 

Porch pirates are a plague on every community in the state, and a bill passed by the state house will increase punishments for mail theft. Under House Bill 34 , defendants will face harsher punishment for mail larceny, as opposed to others types of theft.

 

U.S. Secretary of the Agriculture Brooke Rollins will visit North and South Carolina for a tour of the hardest hit wildfire areas and briefings about the fires in both states. At Tuesday’s Council of State meeting, Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler warned that North Carolina — not California — is in higher danger of catastrophic urban impacts by wildfires, due to development and the growing population.
