A state agency’s ongoing mishandling of hurricane relief funds from Matthew and Florence is bringing the State Auditor’s Office to Columbus County.
County Manager Eddie Madden said the county’s ongoing problems with N.C. Office of Resilience and Recovery are being looked at by Auditor Dave Boliek’s team to gain insight on how to avoid similar problems with recovery efforts from Hurricane Helene.
Less than fifty percent of the thousands of repair and rehabilitation projects taken on by NCORR have been completed, and the agency is $200 million in the hole.
