The elderly man who was missing on Braswell Road has been found safe.
Mr. Danny Britt was found in a cornfield in the Evergreen community, Sheriff Bill Rogers said. Britt was transported to a medical facility to be evaluated.
All volunteer fire departments in the county sent searchers to the hunt. Sheriff’s offices from Bladen, Brunswick, New Hanover, and Robeson counties also deployed personnel and resources. The Whiteville drone team was also dispatched. Private individuals also turned out to help.
“This outcome is proof of what can happen when agencies unite and the community stands alert,” Rogers said. “I am proud of the teamwork that helped bring Mr. Britt home safely.”
Britt, 80, was reported missing this morning around 11 a.m., according to the sheriff’s office.
He was wearing tan pants, a camouflage jacket, brown shoes and no socks. Britt is reported to have a cognitive disorder.
