A book laced with synthetic cannabinoid was seized at Columbus Correctional Institute.
Deputies were called to the prison in Brunswick April 29 after a “suspicious package” was intercepted, according to the report. The book tested positive for K2 Spice, a synthetic cannabinoid that produces effects similar to marijuana.
The book was seized as evidence.
Books and parcels are regularly used by suppliers to smuggle narcotics into prisons. Paper soaked in K2 can be smoked or eaten.
The sheriff’s office said the case was “closed by other means.”
