Longterm Hallsboro Operation Nets Two Arrests

Large quantities of cocaine and a firearm were seized Wednesday in a raid on a Hallsboro area home.

Jamal Devon Bryant, 40, and Susan Blair Rabon, 37, were arrested when Vice/Narcotics agents, detectives and deputies executed a search warrant at 514 Red Bug Road.

During the extensive undercover operation, the sheriff’s office said multiple controlled buys of illegal drugs were conducted at the residence. Investigators found “trafficking” quantities of cocaine and an FN 9mm handgun in the home.

Jamal Devon Bryant

Bryant, whose home was the scene of the raid, was held under $100,000 secured bond. He faces charges of possession of a firearm by a felon, two counts trafficking in cocaine,  possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver cocaine, maintaining a dwelling for drug activities, manufacturing cocaine, possession of paraphernalia, and selling drugs within 1,000 feet of a park. Warrants show that Bryant was previously convicted of felony sale of marijuana, and sentenced to six to eight months in prison and 36 months supervised probation.

Warrants show that Bryant had a set of scales used for cocaine sales, as well as 46.8 grams of cocaine. The home where the drugs were allegedly being sold was within 1,000 feet of Hallsboro Memorial Park, according to warrants.

Susan Blair Rabon

Rabon listed her address as 4361 Andrew Jackson Hwy., Chadbourn. She was charged with two counts of conspiracy to traffic in cocaine, and three of felony aiding and abetting trafficking. Her bond was set at $75,000.

“This investigation is another example of the ongoing commitment of our Vice/Narcotics Unit to address illegal drug activity in Columbus County,” said Sheriff W. A. “Bill” Rogers. “These investigations take time, patience, and persistence. We will continue working with our local, state, and federal partners to identify those bringing dangerous narcotics into our communities and hold them accountable.”

The State Bureau of Investigation assisted on the case.
