Loris Man Charged with Child Sex Offenses Against Multiple Victims

UPDATED June 12 at noon.

Multiple victims helped put an alleged child molester behind bars Thursday.

Jeromy Lee Blanton, 44, of Loris, is being held under no bond. He faces seven counts of statutory rape of a victim under 15; eight of crime against nature; seven charges of incest; nine charges of statutory sex offense against a child; four counts of sexual activity by a custodian or substitute parent; and 14 counts of statutory sex offence against a person under 15.

The case was originally reported in 2022, according to a sheriff’s office press release.

“After new information was brought forward, the case was reviewed and reopened by the Special Victims Unit,” the release said. “During the renewed investigation, additional victims came forward and disclosed allegations involving Blanton.”

Blanton was living in Nakina at the time of the alleged crimes, the release said. Detectives reviewed previously collected evidence and obtained additional records that led to new interviews. Based on the investigation, warrants were obtained for Blanton.

Blanton was arrested at a business in Shallotte.

“The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office recognizes the courage it takes for victims to come forward, especially in cases involving abuse that may have occurred years prior. Reports of child sexual abuse are taken seriously, and the Sheriff’s Office remains committed to pursuing justice while protecting the privacy and dignity of victims,” the release said.

The CCSO thanked the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Division for their assistance in this investigation.
