Barbara (Porter) Morgan

June 15, 1938 ~ March 14, 2025 (age 86)

Barbara Porter Morgan, age 86, of Chadbourn, NC, passed away peacefully, Friday, March 14, 2025, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born June 15, 1938, in Columbus County, NC, she was the daughter of the late William Purvel Porter and Eva Mae Stephens Porter.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Henry Morgan of the home. One daughter and caregiver, Patricia Ann Pol of Chadbourn, NC. Two sons, Jeffery Vaughn Ward (Stacy Shiels) of Greenfield, MA and Dale Ward (Jill) of Oak Island, NC, two sisters, Virginia Mae Gause of Shallotte, NC and Dolores Kaye Cox of Whiteville, NC, two stepchildren, Daniel Morgan of Whiteville, NC and Jonathan Morgan of Leland, NC, six grandchildren, Wesli, Carly, Lorna, Maxwell, Annabel, and Abel and one sister-in-law, Melba Porter of Longs, SC.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, William Carlyle Porter, L.D. Porter (Juanita), and Kenneth Porter, one grandson, Isaac Ward and one great grandson, Wyley Bratton, two brother-in-laws, David Gause and Horace Cox.

She grew up on a farm in the Sandy Plain area with 5 siblings. After graduating Tabor City High School, she attended Miller-Motte Business College. She moved to Virginia Beach after marrying Virgil Ward and had three children. She was a stay home Mom for many years but had side jobs as a bookkeeper and was an excellent seamstress. She later worked as Manager of the Holiday Motel and Restaurant. Before retiring, she worked for Kramer’s Ladies Shop. She married Lloyd Morgan and they spent almost 13 years together. They were best friends and enjoyed traveling and gardening. They attended Living Word Church for 40 years and were involved in different veteran associations. She was a loving Mother and Grandmother and loved her family fiercely.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 17, 2025, at 3:00 PM in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Porter Cemetery in Tabor City, NC.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Lifecare in Whiteville of which the family is very grateful.
