Three alleged drug traffickers were arrested Thursday after a raid on a home near Whiteville.
The sheriff’s office reported that Steven Scott Best, Tara Shawn Little, and Wesley Scott Best were jailed after a long-term investigation into alleged drug activity at 1088 Vinson Boulevard.
Vice-Narcotics detectives conducted surveillance and made multiple controlled purchases of cocaine and methamphetamine from Steven Best, according to a press release.
Steven Best, 55, was charged with two counts of trafficking in cocaine; one count each of possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver methamphetamines, prescription opiates, and cocaine; maintaining a dwelling for drug activity; drug paraphernalia and marijuana paraphernalia. His address was listed as 1088 Vinson Blvd., Whiteville on warrants. His bond was set at $125,000.
Little, 54, was held under $275,000 secured bond. She was also charged with two counts of trafficking in cocaine; one count each of possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver methamphetamines, prescription opiates, and cocaine; maintaining a dwelling for drug activity; drug paraphernalia and marijuana paraphernalia. She was also charged for a probation violation. Court records show her with addresses in Nakina and Tabor City.
Wesley Best, 31, was held under $100,000 secured bond. He also faces charges of trafficking in cocaine; one count each of possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver methamphetamines, prescription opiates, and cocaine; maintaining a dwelling for drug activity; drug paraphernalia and marijuana paraphernalia. His address was listed as 1088 Vinson Blvd., Whiteville.
Steven Best is alleged to have sold drugs out of his home on Vinson Boulevard, the press release said.
“This operation highlights the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office’s continued commitment to proactive narcotics enforcement, crime prevention, and the safety of our community,” CCSO said in the press release. “The Sheriff’s Office will continue to investigate and aggressively pursue those who engage in the illegal distribution of controlled substances in Columbus County.”
