Tuesday’s fire at a railroad siding near Chadbourn is still under investigation, but may have been caused by spontaneous combustion. Breaking news Multiple fire departments and the N.C. Forest Service are on the scene of a working fire at the intersection of Grist and Braswell roads near Chadbourn. Hazmat crews have also been called to the property, which is used as a parking and cleaning area for railcars on the R.J. Corman line.
