County offices to close during shuffle

County of Columbus

Several county offices will be closed while departments move to new quarters in the coming days.

The Veterans Office will be closed tomorrow (Oct. 14) and will reopen Friday.

The biggest changes will take place Oct. 19-20.

The county administration (including the county manager), human resources, and legal departments will be moving to 110 Courthouse Square, which currently houses the District Attorney’s Office. The DA’s office will be taking over the Jefferson Street building where county offices are currently.

Economic development will be moving to 306 Jefferson St., the current home of the county planning office.

County spokeswoman Amanda Prince said some telephones may be off while the move is taking place, but voicemail will still be working.“If you cannot reach someone by phone, please leave a message,” she said in a press release.  “We will return calls as quickly as possible.”
