A fight Friday ended with the death of a Lake Waccamaw area man.
The sheriff’s office reported that Luke Simmons, 39, died after he fell and hit his head during a fight with another man, whose name has not been released. Simmons was transported to Columbus Regional then transferred to New Hanover, where he later died.
The altercation occurred in the 300 block of Mount Moriah Church Road. Around 11 a.m. Alcohol is suspected of playing a part in the fight, according to the CCSO.
The case is under investigation. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death.
