I must spend some time this week on someone that has spent decades entertaining us, Scott Hall is that person, that entertainer. Some of us first remember him as Razor Ramone, with a toothpick and a bad attitude. Others remember him from the NWO, what a group of sports entertainers. Scott Hall and Big Sexy Kevin Nash, toss in X-Pac and it was must see TV. Eventually Hollywood Hulk joined the group, and the rest is wrestling history at its best.
Unbelievably, some of those wrestlers are still wrestling or coming out of retirement for one last run in the sun. The most recent to dust off the boots (and knee-braces) is Stone Cold Steve Austin; he will be on the card in the upcoming WrestleMania 38. Steve Austin is not the only one returning to action in the WWE and its annual spectacular, former WWE Women’s Champion Lita (Amy Christine Dumas) is also on the card competing in the Elimination Chamber match. Speaking of Lita, Edge is also back in the ring wrestling and will be on the WrestleMania 38 card.
Rey Mysterio is still wrestling, he is partnering with his son Dominic who is continuing his family’s luchador tradition. Brock Lesner is back again to raise hell and everything in his world is coming to a head at the upcoming cornerstone of sports entertainment event. Rowdy Ronda Rousey is back, and she faces Charlotte Flair. Yes, the daughter of Ric Flair. The show on April 2, promises to be memorable and I am sure you can learn all the new guys along the way.
If you have not watched any wraslin’ in a while, now might be the time to get back into the habit. There are a lot of familiar faces all around the wrestling world. Do not forget that Whiteville’s very own David Michael Harwood, AKA Dax Harwood of AEW/ Scott Dawson of the WWE. He opened this past week on the AEW show against another sports entertainer coming back after a long hiatus, CM Punk. If you happened to see this show you might have been surprised by also seeing Chris Jerico, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy and Sting. Also on this card was Flyin’ Brians son, Brian Pillman Jr., and William Regal is an attaché that randomly shows up in broadcasts. The voice and co-owner JR, Jim Ross, makes this federation a familiar one, even if you have never seen an episode. So put on a pair of spandex and grab a Pabst Blue Ribbon, it is time to get a little rowdy! Sports entertainment is on almost every night of the week and it sure is a great distraction from what is happening around the world. I am sure it will be a slobber-knocker of a show!!!
