Earlier story:

The Bolton man recently arrested for allegedly stealing a boat has escaped custody from a Department of Corrections facility.

James Nicholas Jacobs, 31, was arrested May 17 on charges of larceny and motor vehicle theft, as well as outstanding warrants from Whiteville and Brunswick County. He was on parole at the time for being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to the DoC.

Jacobs was being held at the minimum security Confinement in Response Violation (CRV) Center at Lumberton when he disappeared Sunday. Jacobs was sent to the CRV to serve a 90 day sentence for violating parole after the May 1 theft of a boat and trailer near Hallsboro.

He is described as standing five feet, eight inches tall, with hazel eyes and brown hair. Jacobs has multiple tattoos. His last known address was Martha’s Lane in Bolton.

The CRV facility typically houses defendants who have violated post release supervision.

Anyone with information about Jacobs’ whereabouts is asked to call 911 of the CRV at 910.618.5535.
