A woman was reported accidentally shot in the face Sunday near Whiteville.
Madilyn Ivy Parrish, 21, was rushed to Columbus Regional by her boyfriend, the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office said. The man, whose name has not been released, told investigators that he was “messing with his handgun” when it went off.
The two were apparently sitting in separate vehicles in the driveway of the man’s home on Frank Baldwin Road, the report said. The shooting was called in at 7 p.m., according to the report.
Charges have not been filed in the case. The incident is under investigation.
