Ricky Creech, President and CEO of the Boys and Girls Homes of NC, passed away unexpectedly on the morning of July 16, 2022 at the age of 59.

A South Carolina native, born on May 23, 1963, to Tommy and Martha Creech. He is a graduate of North Greenville College, Furman University, and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Since 1991, Ricky has served in multiple leadership positions among communities of faith, faith-based nonprofits, and for profit organizations and agencies. Throughout his 31 years of ministry, Ricky has served as the Director of Church & Community Ministries at Montgomery Baptist Association, Executive Director of the Birmingham Baptist Association, Minister of Administration and Missions at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, Executive Director of the DC Baptist Convention, President/CEO of Buckhorn Children and Family Services, Chief Executive Officer of Southstone Behavioral Health Center and President/CEO of the Boys and Girls Homes of NC. He devoted his career to serving the community through disaster relief, mission work, foster care/child welfare advocacy and ministry.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Donna Batson Creech; his 3 daughters, Ashley Elkins (Matt), Sarah Creech, Stephanie Tucker (Landon); and his 4 grandchildren, Sutton, Rae, Eva, and Jaxon. He is also survived by his mother, Martha Creech Boineau; and his 2 sisters, Tammy Still and Cynthia Ray.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a monetary donation to be made at either the Boys and Girls Homes of NC or the Lake Waccamaw Fire Department in Ricky’s memory.

Ricky was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had a passion for serving the Lord through his work, ministry, and day to day life. Today Ricky is with his Heavenly Father and was welcomed by “Well Done my good and faithful servant.”

Services will be on Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 11:00 am-12:30 pm at the Chapel at the BGHNC. Visitation will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the Leamon E. Rogers Memorial Chapel with a memorial service following in the Chapel at 1:00 pm.
