While some door-to-door salesmen might have unusual transportation, apparently their pitch is legitimate.

Residents of the Acme-Delco-Riegelwood community, Buckhead and Lake Waccamaw are reporting that representatives of Hawx Pest Control of Wilmington are zooming through the east end on hoverboards. In at least one instance, the salesmen were chased off by the homeowner’s dogs.

Electric hoverboards have two or sometimes three wheels. The operator stands upright and controls the machine via the handlebars.

A customer service representative with the Wilmington Hawx office said workers are going door to door throughout the area, and some of them may be riding hoverboards.

The sheriff’s office and Lake Waccamaw Police reported no official complaints about the salesmen as of 2 p.m.
