Two men are in jail after a theft victim spotted his property being pulled down the road Aug. 30.
Casey Jacobs, 34, of 6534 Old Lake Rd., Bolton, was held under $30,000 secured boind, charged with breaking, entering and larceny, and a probation violation.
Ricky Levell Mitchell, 33, of 3487 Old Northeast Rd., Lake Waccamaw, was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of stolen property. His bond was set at $100,000, according to jail reports.
The sheriff’s office said that on Aug. 30, a Swimming Hole Road resident spotted what he thought to be his four wheeler and cub Cadet lawn mower being pulled on a trailer down Livingston Chapel Road. The victim immediately went home and discovered the mower and ATV were missing. He contacted deputies with a description of the vehicle, but it was not located.
The victim worked with the investigator assigned to the case to identify Jacobs as a suspect. The investigator obtained a warrant for Jacobs’ arrest.
On Sept. 8, Vice-Narcotics Investigators were conducting a separate investigation, and a search warrant was executed at 231 Loop Road, Bolton. Investigators observed a four-wheeler matching the victim’s four-wheeler at the home. The four-wheeler was confirmed as the one stolen in Delco, and returned to the victim.
Jacobs was arrested at a residence on Old Lake Road Sept. 12.
On Sept. 14, a search warrant was executed at two properties, 3487 and 3493 Old Northeast Road, Lake Waccamaw. Investigators located and recovered the stolen lawn mower. It was recovered.
The suspect had painted the lawn mower blue to change its appearance, the sheriff’s office said. Inside the home, investigators located and seized three long guns. Another stolen four-wheeler was located and recovered by investigators.
Mitchell, 33 was arrested on the scene. His bond was originally set at $15,000 secured, but it was increased the next day to $100,000 secured.
