County Schools Make Principal, Admin Changes

Due to a recent retirement announcement at the Central Office, The Columbus County Board of Education is making administrative changes to avoid disruptions resulting from personnel moves during the school year.

The  following administrative changes are effective Aug. 1:

  • Jamie Faulk, principal of East Columbus Jr./Sr. High School, will be moving to the Central Office to become the Curriculum Support Coordinator. Faulk’s varied background across the K-12 spectrum brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position.
  • Dr. Kenneth Bowen, principal of West Columbus High School, will become the principal of East Columbus Jr./Sr. High School. Bowen has an extensive background as an administrator and principal.
  • John Browning, assistant principal of East Columbus Jr./Sr. High School, will become the principal of West Columbus High School.  Browning spent many years as a teacher and coach at WCHS, also serving as assistant principal at Tabor City School during the 22-23 school year.

The Columbus County Board of Education understands the vital role of principals as leaders of the school community, and making this decision with a month left before school begins allows for continuity of leadership throughout the 2023-2024 school year.
