Lewis Earns Instructor Tab

Columbus County Deputy Ricky Lewis is the newest graduate of the DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Effort) Officer Training Program.

Lewis completed the course at the N.C. Justice Academy in Salemburg, attending training from July 10-21. He received the Most Improved Award. Lewis will assist in teaching other deputies how to implement the DARE programs in schools and elsewhere in the county.

Officer Wayne Elmore of the Troutman Police Department acted as Lewis’ mentor for the training.

“We are proud of Deputy Lewis’ dedication and commitment to serving our community as a Deputy and now as a D.A.R.E. Instructor,” Sheriff Bill Rogers said in a press release. “He will be a fantastic D.A.R.E. instructor.”
