Local agencies and organizations will be holding blood drives in Columbus beginning on Aug. 30 and running through Sept. 29. September is the nationally recognized awareness month for Sickle Cell disease, blood cancer, and childhood cancer. The Boys and Girls Home of N.C., Whiteville PD, and the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office will all be hosting donation events.
The BGHNC will be partnering with the American Red Cross on Aug. 30 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Morton Conference Center on the campus farm to sponsor their drive. The entrance to the facility is located on Top Tobacco Road in Lake Waccamaw. The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a blood donation drive with The Blood Connection on Sept. 7 from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. at their office at 817 Washington Street in Whiteville. You can get $60 in rewards redeemable for an eGift card of your choice on the connection’s website, or you can choose to donate the points to a non-profit.
