The reported boyfriend of a murder victim Alissa Lee’s mother has been charged in the April killing.
Brandon Wayne Mincey, 41, has been in jail since May on a charge of accessory after the fact. That charge was dropped in Columbus County Superior Court after a grand jury indicted Mincey for murder Aug. 10. He was originally held under $750,000 secured bond. He is now held under no bond.
Lee’s body was found April 25 in the water near Heartbeat Bridge in Nakina. The original warrant says that evidence was disposed of in the case between “approximately” April 5 and April 14.
The original accessory warrant said Mincey “did knowingly assist (Lisa Jackson) in escaping detection, arrest and punishment by disposing of evidence in the murder of Alissa Lee.” Jackson is Lee’s biological mother. Mincey was reported to be Jackson’s boyfriend at the time of the killing.
Mincey reportedly accompanied Jackson to the funeral home during visitation before Lee’s final services. A witness said he offered condolences to the victim’s other family members.
Jackson has not been charged with any crimes.
