Lake Waccamaw Police Department
Lake Waccamaw is currently accepting applications for the position of full-time police officer. The police department embraces the concept of community policing while providing police services to include traffic and criminal law enforcement, emergency response and investigation. All applicants must be eligible for immediate certification with the N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission or eligible for later transfer if applying from another agency in North Carolina or for an out of state transfer. Lake Waccamaw Paramedic
Lake Waccamaw is seeking to hire a full-time paramedic for the newly established EMS service for the town. Under general supervision, this person will perform skilled and technical work in operating an approved mobile medical unit and administering appropriate emergency medical care to patients. The work involves responding to the scene of emergency calls, applying necessary medical treatment to sick or injured persons, and transporting persons to the appropriate medical facility. The employee must exercise tact, courtesy and firmness in dealing with sick or injured persons and with the general public. They are responsible for performing in accordance with established emergency medical procedures and techniques but must exercise considerable independent judgment in evaluating and testing victims and in applying short-term relief. The paramedic will be exposed to the normal hazards of emergency fire and rescue work including the risk of exposure to infectious diseases.
The minimum requirements for this position are as follows:
- Possession of a high school diploma or GED.
- Credentialed as an Paramedic with the state of North Carolina.
- Possession of a valid North Carolina Driver’s License with the ability to obtain a Class B license within 6 months of service.
- Certified Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation
- Certified Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or equivalent.
- Certified Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Certified Hazmat Awareness Level 1 or equivalent within 12 months of service
- Ability to complete certification in Emergency Vehicle Driver within 12 months of date of hire.
- Physical ability to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including suction units, immobilization requirement, intravenous infusions, syringes and medications, cardiac monitor/defibrillator/pacer; two-way radios, mechanics tools, etc.
- Ability to exert up to 150 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 75 pounds of force frequently, and/or 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Physical ability to carry a shared 250-pound load for short distances and subsequently provide necessary care.
- Ability to work extended hours and days to meet any and all operational needs;
- Knowledge of basic laws and regulations pertaining to emergency medical service operations.
- Ability to prepare ambulance call reports and other reports using appropriate grammar, medical terminology and abbreviations, and to write legibly.

Tabor City Police Department
The town of Tabor City is looking to hire and train people who would like to join their team. Starting pay is $43,920.24 per year, and individuals will be paid while completing the BLET program. Permanent shifts will be assigned for 14 days out of the month, and officers will be given $25 per hour for security detail duties.
