The alleged gunman in a Sept. 4 shooting near Whiteville is being held under no bond.
Jansean Daryan Freeman, 20, was arrested Monday for attempted first degree murder and failure to appear, detention center records show. The latter charge was from an unrelated Bladen County case. Freeman was held under no bond. Freeman listed a Silver Spoon Road address on arrest documents, but family members said he lived at the location of the shooting.
Freeman and another man are alleged to have burst into a home at 2586 Georgia Pacific Road near Whiteville on Sept. 4 and opened fire. Delena Shipman was hit once in the leg, while her son Davion Frink was hit at least five times. Frink was airlifted to New Hanover Regional. Shipman was treated locally.
The second suspect has not been identified.
