Closings and Holiday Schedules

Columbus County Government Offices will be closed Monday through Wednesday, Dec. 25 – 27 for Christmas and also on Monday, Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day.

The Columbus County Transfer Station will be closed Dec. 25-27. Normal operations will resume on Thursday, Dec. 28.

The Columbus County Recycling Centers will be closed Dec. 23 and Dec. 25. All Recycling Centers throughout the County will be open on Tuesday, Dec. 26. Normal operations will resume on Wednesday, Dec. 27.

Due to the Christmas holiday, GFL will not be providing trash collection services on Monday, Dec. 25. Collection will be delayed by a day through next week.  If your trash collection day is normally on Monday, then you will be serviced on Tuesday. If your trash collection day is normally on Tuesday, then pick up will be Wednesday, etc. Contact GFL at 910.499.4646 if you should have any further questions regarding trash collection services during the Christmas holiday.

Elwell Ferry between Kelly and Carver’s Creek is closed through Dec. 28 for maintenance and due to high water.

Whiteville City offices will be closed Monday – Wednesday, Dec. 25-27 for Christmas, and Jan. 1for New Year’s Day. Trash pickup for Monday is rescheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 26. Trash pickups  for Friday, Dec. 29, may handled on that day or Saturday morning. Tuesday’s city council meeting has also been cancelled.

Columbus Animal Protective Services  is open for adoptions from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. APS will be closed Dec. 25-27 and Jan. 1.  The shelter will be operating on normal hours for adoptions and visiting animals. Workers will only be dispatched to emergency calls in the county on from Christmas through New Year’s Day.

The Elizabethtown license plate agency will be closed Dec. 21-27, and reopen Dec.
