Coat Drives Underway in Columbus

Several area organizations are coordinating an ongoing coat drive to help the needy in Columbus County.

Columbus County Partnership for Children is collecting coats and sweaters through Wednesday. The garments will be distributed for free to local needy families. Smart Start is located at 107 W. Main Street, Whiteville. Call 910.642.8226 for more information.

Whiteville Alliance Church and Volunteers of America are accepting new and gently used coats through Jan. 18. Coats can be dropped off at the VoA office at 108 Memory Plaza Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.,  and Whiteville Alliance Church, 623 Warrior Trail,  from 4-6 p.m. There’s also a drop box at Whiteville Alliance.
