Throwing away the evidence didn’t save a Whiteville man from being arrested Friday – but it did earn a littering charge.
Henry Moore, 62, was stopped for a headlight violation by the sheriff’s office on J.K., Powell Boulevard just after 5 p.m., according to a sheriff’s office report. One headlight was not functioning on Moore’s Ford pickup truck. Deputies smelled marijuana as they approached the truck, according to the report.
Moore consented to a vehicle search, but became uncooperative with deputies. Deputies restrained him on the ground beside the truck, and Moore allegedly tossed several plastic bags under the vehicle.
The bags contained marijuana, crack, powder cocaine, and an Alprazolam pill, the report said. Deputies also found a digital scale allegedly used for measuring drugs.
Moore was arrested on charges of possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana, crack and cocaine; simple possession of Schedule III narcotics (Alprazolam); drug paraphernalia; resisting an officer; driving without two headlights, and littering under 15 pounds. He was released on a $12,500 secured bond. His address was listed as 181 Glenwood Rd., Whiteville.
