Jeffrey Fowler is being held under no bond for the Thursday night shooting of his daughter, Kaylee.
Columbus County Detention Center reports show Fowler, 53, was booked at 4:16 p.m. He was arrested after being released from New Hanover Regional. Fowler was airlifted to the hospital Thursday after he was shot five times.
Deputies were called to Wagon Wheel Drive near Evergreen just after 9 p.m. They were originally responding to a domestic dispute, according to radio traffic, but the call was upgraded to a shooting.
Kaylee Fowler, 17, was shot twice in the face. She reportedly tried to stop her father from assaulting her mother.
No additional information, including how Fowler was shot, has been released by the sheriff’s office.
The victim’s name was confirmed by friends.
The killing was the second in five days, and the second this year. Antonio Maultsby Jr., 7, was shot to death in his Braswell Road home near Chadbourn Saturday.
