December 18, 1943 ~ April 5, 2024 (age 80)
Frank passed away peacefully on April 5th, 2024, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family, with his favorite music playing.
He was born to the late Melvin Lee and Ruby Watts Sibbett in Columbus County. He lived in both Hallsboro and Lake Waccamaw, where he spent his life by the water with his family.
Frank graduated from Hallsboro High School in 1962. Following high school, he began a 43-year career with Federal Paper Board in Riegelwood, which would later become International Paper. An avid outdoorsman, Frank spent many seasons hunting and fishing. Referred to as Papa by most, he was a generous man who always shared his hunting and fishing spoils with friends, family, and even strangers. Other lifelong hobbies included reading, playing cards and pool, listening to music, watching westerns, baking lemon pound cakes and chocolate pies, and picking on his family. He loved relaxing on the end of his pier with the serenity of his beloved lake. Frank was also an avid animal lover. Throughout his life he had many dogs, cats, and even a few local squirrels, ducks, turtles and fish that knew his call to receive treats.
Frank only had one true love, his wife of 44 years, Jessie Ruth Marlowe. They were married in 1964, had two children, and spent their lives in the only place they would call home, beautiful Lake Waccamaw.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, son Brian, brother Irving, and his dog and best friend of 13 years, Daisy.
He is survived by his daughter, DeeDee Sibbett Brown of the home; daughters-in-law, Christie Lane Sibbett Brown and Susan Kesler Sibbett, both of Sanford; daughter-by-choice Beth Yost, of Carthage; and grandchildren Ariel Sibbett, Joanna Brown, and Nathaniel Brown.
Anyone who knows DeeDee knows that she runs a plant hospice, therefore in lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite organization or charity.
The graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 9th, at 1 pm at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Lake Waccamaw where he will be laid to rest next to his precious Jessie Ruth.
